So that means I'd also have to set up Windows to be able to be an rsync target, which I don't know that it can do. And this introduces another problem because my primary NAS (which is also OMV) does a daily rsync to the backup NAS. It seems like the the only way to make this work is to change my entire backup architecture to be an iSCSI target to a windows VM, then let the VM share out the SMB shares to the other systems on my network. Unfortunately, in addition of the slight headache it was of adding the necessary extra plugins into OMV to get iSCSI functionality, it didn't work because SMB Shares are set up in OMV as file level shares and iSCSI is block level. I was hoping to set up my existing smb shares to also be iSCSI targets, have one of my Windows VM's iSCSI initiators set to those targets so the VM would see them as local storage. Their Windows client also only backs up local disks to that system. Unfortunately, when I originally set up my in-home Backup solution, it's OpenMediaVault (OMV) running SMB shares and one of those shares is also an rsync target for my primary NAS.īackblaze only has a Windows client and Mac client, but no Linux client. I want to get my off-site backups going and I've decided to use Backblaze for this. r/HomeNetworking - Simpler networking advice.
